379: Ammonite [2020] Movie Review

Can it get any more bleak than a British period drama about an underappreciated female historical figure? Turns out yes, yes it can if you add to that equation lesbianism and the British seaside. Ammonite is like the perfect storm of filmic gloominess fraught with awkwardness, greyness, the British weather and long dead creatures turned to stone. Sounds like a right ol’ laugh, huh?! Well, bear with us as we discuss why this film is worthwhile.

326: Hanna [2011] Movie Discussion

Rich is always a bit wary of teenage assassin stories, but maybe he can get behind Hanna, a Euro-hopping action thriller from 2011. But then again, maybe not. It’s an odd mix of Jason Bourne style action with coming of age aspects and lots of fairy-tale imagery and whilst it gets a little silly in parts it has a banging soundtrack. Will it win over the crew? Tune in to find out.
