435: Shampoo [1975] Movie Discussion

After watching the film Shampoo we have learned one great lesson about the hairdressing business: all you have to do to be considered successful is sleep with all your clients and then they won’t notice that your only trick is waving a hairdryer vaguely in the direction of their heads. Shampoo claims to be a satire of American society and sexual politics, with something to do with Richard Nixon in there, but we’re not sure what to make of this 70’s dramedy.

“Ooooo, look at all the pretty colours!” This, we highly suspect here at Spoiler Filled HQ, is how most people ended up watching this week’s film, the live-action adaptation of Dick Tracy from 1990. But perhaps we are soon to discover the hideous nature of the beast laying below. In this discussion, we discuss such things as: how there is such a distinguished cast in such a questionable movie, Madonna’s gangster voice, neon noir and all those god-damned melty faces.
