380: Psycho 2 [1983] Movie Discussion

We have been inundated over the last decade or so with movie sequels and remakes that come a long time after their originals, usually trying to capitalize on some form of nostalgia. So this week, we’re going to look at one of the first films to do this and it turns out to be one with the longest gap. Psycho 2 was released a good 23 years after the original Hitchcock masterpiece and hoped to recapture some of the suspense, horror, weirdness and magic of it’s predecessor. Does it succeed? As a mild tribute to the late actor Robert Forster, Jamie has chosen to take the Spoiler Filed crew on a journey through The Black Hole, a Disney Sci-fi from 1979, which was one of the early attempts to find a middle ground between the mature existential sci-fi of 2001: A Space Odyssey and the light-hearted action sci-fi of Star Wars. Was the movie successful?
