290: Fiddler on the Roof [1971] Movie Discussion

This time on the podcast we discuss Fiddler on the Roof from 1971, a musical revolving around Jewish like and culture. We all mainly came for a rousing performance from Topol (who was seemingly born to play this role despite being 20 years younger then the character), but we stayed for the: myriad beards, sewing machine fascination, Jewish arm shuffling, bottle balancing, unexpected zombie dream sequence and the only character outside of a Transformers film with the gumption to be called Lazerwolf.

289: Belle [2013] Movie Review

We have seen many adaptations here at Spoiler Filled. Mostly of books, sometimes of plays, even a few videogames here and there but, this may be the first time we’ve watched a film adaptation of an 18th century painting. Well sort of anyways. Belle, from 2013, is a period drama based on the life of an illegitimate black child of a British naval officer being brought up in upper-class, predominantly white British society and some of the difficulties she would have experienced.

288: One Hour Photo [2002] Movie Review

We return to one of the most recurring actors in our Spoiler Filled discussions this week, Robin Williams, though he is a little creepier than we are used to (apart from a few uncomfortable moments in the film Toys). One Hour Photo is one of those rare occasions we get to see his more menacing side, although perhaps the film has become somewhat a time capsule for a very specific moment in time. We will say though we have never seen anyone have such a good time on a toilet before.
