263: Turbulence [1997] Xmas Special Movie Review

269 Turbulence

It’s Xmas here at Spoiler Filled HQ and we’re breaking from tradition for the first time in years. Instead of the usual Wrestlemas treat, we opted to go on a Xmas adventure with a psychotic Ray Liotta up in a plane and what an adventure it was. Tune in now to hear us reflect on Brendan Gleeson’s questionable accent, Guy Ritchie’s questionable intentions when making the film Revolver and Abi’s questionable opinion on the merits of living fast and dying young in the face of lethal injection.

Enjoy! And Merry Xmas!

262: The Mistress of Spices [2005] Movie Review

262 The Mistress of Spices

Start with a some romantic mysticism, add a few harrowing social issues, sprinkle in some laughable dialogue and garnish with a good helping of psychic interactions with ground-up plants and you have the recipe for The Mistress of Spices; a bizarre romantic drama about an Indian woman torn between her love for a handsome architect and her dedication to the mystical art of The Spices. We’re sure it’s all a metaphor for reconciling different cultures, beliefs and one’s own past and present, but we can’t help but be drawn in by the silliness of it all.
